It's like saying fish > chicken.

It's a subjective question.

EQ has some great facets

so has WoW

EQ has some shite aspects

so has WoW

personally,

I love EQ, but I also enjoy tinkering with WoW occasionally.

If you like hanging around and playing with mindless kids, yes then WoW > EQ.

If EQ wasnt so damn ugly to look at i yhink it would be a great game. If they could make Age of Conan graphics with EQ content it be great.

wow is a nice solo game, but thats all it is. you have to play on a pvp server to get any er 'interaction' if you count getting spanked by a hunter or rogue as interaction.
I am beginging to hate blizzard to be honest, i prefered rpgs before they brought them to the masses. Now everyone copies them because thats where the $$ is.

I think WoW now is a more complete game

Everquest will ALWAYS be the best ever MMORPG in my eyes, but for current states, WoW wins

Currently playing my Alliance resto druid in BT/MH guild, and i have a seperate account with my 70 Horde Rogue that is my PVP toon (Both on the same PVP server, Vashj)

The end game encounters are simply enjoyable and challenging, and also i have a great pvp character for enjoying the best of the PVP element

raids in wow was freaking boring for sure and not to talk about once you hit max lvl and done all instances, then game was pretty dead... fun game up to a point, but it runs out of content faster than my motorcycle runs out of gas

One have to keep in mind though that WoW has not been on the market for very long, yes, some of the contents is limited at the moment, but when EQ came it was equally limited in all areas of the game.

Wrath of the Lich king will be the 2nd expansion and to compare EQ and WoW should not rightfully be done how EQ looks today, but instead how it looked at the brink of the 2nd expansion.

Also, it is a myth that there are a majority of mindless kids that play WoW /slap Vazago (hard  ) the average age is well over 20 (latest I checked it was around 26 or so - but then again, 26 is kids for me also today 8) ) however since there are like +10 million or so subscribers, you tend to meet all kind of players when you are online and frankly, ganking someone for hours at end is not age related, its how bored you are at the moment.

I myself, cannot, will not compare the 2 games, the reason for that is that my EQ adventures are over and Yes, I have some fond memories that will never go away I hope, but since I solely today play WoW, asking me which game is more fun will result in the game I play, not the game I used to play, else I would probably play EQ still.

WoW is more user friendly and casual

EQ is the complete opposite of user friendly and extremly hard core.

WoW can't really feed my raid bug, and EQ makes my head hurt.

I guess if I only had a choice of EQ or WoW for the rest of my life I would go with WoW because I don't even have the time to load up a char on EQ, much less try to grind.

its been around for years now, it would be considered old school if it wasn't for the bizarre popularity.

WoW launched november 23rd 2004, the comparison though is between EQ and WoW, EQ was launched March 16 1999, compared to EQ, WoW has not been on the market for very long.

Ok so WoW has been around for almost four years now. Compare the 4 year old wow to the 4 year old EQ then.

Now I never played WoW but for a few hours so I can't say anything sensible about the WoW raiding game, but in the 4 year old EQ people were allready raiding in pop, a fully functional, challenging raid endgame.

Also it's not like the WoW developers had to re-invent the wheel to make some propper raids. All the pioneerswork was done allready ......... by EQ. Better to copy some good stuff then re-invent the wheel yourself badly.

Know the facts if you are going to bash at another MMORPG please.

Do you think really that EQ was the first (wheel) MMORPG?

***wrong***

Meridian 59, ever heard of it?

I haven't to be honest, but according to wikipedia this was the 1st , followed by Ultima Online and then EQ

I guess that even Ultima online copied a bunch of nifty things from Meridan 59 and EQ in turn did the same from Ultima online and the next game did the same also, I mean its common that various online games, copies idea's from each other, which I am quite sure that every mmorpg has done since Meridian 59.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meridian_59

Quote:
However, the game contained many other features that modern games duplicate later: guilds had a dynamic voting system for changing leadership, customized sigils that appeared on shields, and guild halls that could be won or lost. There were also in-game bulletin board system (called newsglobes), a personal mail system that both players and NPCs could use to send messages, a political meta-game, and frequent expansions that expanded the world and gameplay options

Recognize the above for example?

Ok ok, bit badly worded, but one can certainly consider it one of the first ones on a large scale.

Also I didn't say anything contentwise about WoW (
Quote:

).

I only said that if you want to compare the games you should compare the raid game in the 4 year old EQ with the current WoW and draw conclusions from that.

No doubt the conclusion will be that they are not comparable. That I name PoP as a full functional, challenging raid game is a mere fact, nothing more or less.

Meridian has a "new" 3D client and is still going, amazing considering how old that game is.

WoW would be my game of choice if:

- the quest content and system wouldn't be so totally dumbass underchallenging, shoppinglist style and you would have to use a little more brain than follow minimap and ! and ?

- horde and alliance could actually speak with each other

- tad bit less coloursoup-smarties-style, maybe 25% less cartoonish for my taste

- no instances or at least only top end raidencounters instanced

- some of the player character designs rightout suck

wow basicly killing off first expansion with second was a bit harsh for my taste. Bet same happens again with wotlk. The constant changing of classes back and forth is also very odd, I know a lot of ppl have alts in eq, but nothing compared to wow, just nothing to do as I said

omg i hate the cartoony style of the char models as well... The landscaping and the sky is AMAZING though. Why can't they make the characters look just as good? It's way too bulky.

If you've done one dungeon in WoW, you've done them all. Maybe different storyline, but it's the exact same thing for each one. Trashmobs, easy boss, trashmobs, miniboss, trashmobs, easy boss... leading up to hard boss, which is never really that hard, is it?

I hate that the alliance and horde can't talk, but i still think it's cool that they are like... fighting.. or not really fighting, but separated lol.

You don't need to be in a raidinig hardcore guild to raid a harder, top ended raidencounter that's true, but that makes it much easier for the person who can't really get that much time on the computer...

WoW does make a bit more sence than EQ sometimes though... Like Rogues wear leather not chain... What rogue can sneak around in chain?

I HATE that there is no invis for anybody but rogues, and only priests get levi and even that you never see being used...

I do like the graffics though, for most weaps and armor. And how easy it is to get epic gear for any toon.

which brings me to PvPing... I LOVEE The bg's i wish they had them in EQ. that is definatley something SOE should work on.
